The Center provides programs and services that foster physical and mental well being, alleviate isolation and encourage individuals to maintain independence with dignity. Since 1978, The Center has offered programs to adults of all ages in 3 key areas: senior support, affordable housing, and a variety of counseling programs.
General Job Description:
• Provide case management and counseling services to transitional housing clients with the goals of promoting self-sufficiency and securing permanent housing
• Perform assessment for distribution of Homeless Prevention direct client assistance
• Responsible for program grant reports
Other requirements:
• Valid Illinois Drivers License,
• Able to work some evenings and weekends,
• Able to work with diverse populations,
• Good speaking and writing skills, competent in Microsoft Office software
• Able to meet families in their homes,
• Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
• Flexible, able to work independently
Salary: $35,000 to $38,000 --- Medical, Dental and 403B Benefits offered
Hours: Full time salary, specific hours and days to be arranged to meet needs of transitional housing clients.
Reports to: Housing Coordinator
Education experience requirements: MSW with 2 years experience preferred or BSW with 3-4 years experience or other Human Service degree and experience.

BI-LINGUAL PARALEGAL HIV/AIDS PROJECT
Posted May 16th, 2008 by gainpThe Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago (LAF) is seeking a paralegal bi-lingual in Spanish and English for its HIV/AIDS Project. The paralegal will be based at the downtown Chicago office but will travel to neighborhood and suburban offices, service providers, and outreach sites.
Responsibilities: The Paralegal will maintain a caseload comprised of public benefits cases, including representing clients at Public Aid and Social Security Administration hearings. The Paralegal will also be responsible for participating in community outreach and case manager training, particularly within Spanish-speaking communities. The position will also include litigation support activities, such as preparing basic documents and compiling information for court cases. Additional duties include telephone intake, interviewing clients, and assisting in Project administration.
Qualifications: Applicants must be bi-lingual in Spanish and English. Applicants should be skilled in oral and written communication and advocacy; organized; and experienced in community outreach, client organizing, or lay training. Applicants should be committed and sensitive to persons living with HIV/AIDS. Applicants should have word processing and computer data management (such as time-keeping) skills. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants who are familiar with public benefits programs will be preferred.
Salary and Benefits: Salary depends upon experience. Generous fringe benefits.

In addition to coordination of the Community Care and Choices Program, the agency provides counseling, case management and support groups for residents who are 60 or older and their caregivers.
Requirements:
