Walgreen to add 500 corporate jobs

www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20120803/NEWS07/120809925/walgreen-to-add-500-corporate-jobs
Thursday, August 9th, 2012
"(Crain's) — Walgreen Co. will add 500 local corporate jobs in the next three years, the governor's office said this morning. “The new jobs will focus heavily on supporting Walgreen's growing online business and its expanding pharmacy, health and wellness services,” Gov. Pat Quinn's office said in a release this morning. The new positions, to be created over three years, do not include store-level jobs that Deerfield-based Walgreen expects to create over that period, the governor's office said. In addition, the drugstore chain will spend $75 million to expand and revamp a host of corporate offices in the Chicago area. The state of Illinois is providing a package of $47 million linked to the company retaining 1,500 existing jobs, the governor's office said. Walgreen has 5,000 employees at its headquarters and in surrounding offices, the release said. The Chicago Sun-Times reported the plans earlier this morning."
